Routine

Sometimes it's nice to have routines. For instance, when I go to the beach with my friends J and R, we always stop and get basically the same picnic supplies:

8 pack of potato rolls or hamburger buns
1/2 lb swiss cheese
1/2-1 lb smoked turkey
1 lb potato salad (to eat as a side and also put some in the sandwiches)
lettuce
tomato
watermelon (from a truck in harlem)
Sun Chips and/or Doritos
Double Stuff Oreos for J and Peanut Butter Oreos for me & R (although we'll all eat some of each.)
Something to drink--usually water or Fresca

Usually we get together in the morning and go to the store together. We have to stop at MacDonalds either before or after so that J can get a large diet coke with extra ice, and R and I can get ice cream cones or fries. Then we drive an hour or so to the beach, set out our sheets, umbrella, and J's beach chair, and eat. Next we get in the water, then spend the rest of the day between the water, laying out, reading, and eating more. It's a great routine, one that we will hopefully keep up throughout the summer.

Lost and Found

I finally gathered up the rolls of 120 film I had laying around and took them to be processed. It's always fun to see what turns up when you've forgotten what was on the film. One of the rolls turned out to be holga photos from the family reunion trip to the beach. Here are some hidden gems:

The last pickle in the jar. (And my toes!) It was a full jar when we got to the beach.

Squinting

It was a lovely, although cold, day at the beach. Glad that it turned up again on this cold rainy January night.
